Taken from Qantas.com- Hollywood superstar John Travolta recently touched down in Buenos Aires in his ex-Qantas Boeing 707 aircraft.

The Qantas Ambassador-at-Large is on his way to South Africa to support the Qantas Socceroos in the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

Qantas Regional General Manager Americas, Mr Wally Mariani welcomed Mr Travolta to Buenos Aires, a key destination for Qantas.

“John has been part of our Qantas family since 2002. He’s a highly qualified pilot with 747-400 “wings” and flies his own ex- Qantas Boeing 707, painted in its original 1960s livery,” Mr Mariani said.

“Argentina is a popular destination for Australian travelers and we are seeing continued passenger growth between Australia and South America,” he said.

Mr Travolta said he was excited to be in Buenos Aires and looking forward to cheering on both the Qantas Socceroos and Argentina in the FIFA World Cup.

“Football is truly a world game that brings people together and Qantas is recognized as one of the world’s leading long distance carriers offering services to 173 destinations in 42 countries. I’m proud of my association with Qantas and to fly my Boeing 707 aircraft around the world in support of this exceptional airline,” Mr Travolta said.

“Qantas commenced non-stop services to South America in November 2008. We currently operate three return services per week between Buenos Aires and Sydney on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays, using three-class B747-400ER aircraft,” Mr Mariani said.

“Qantas also operates codeshare services with oneworld partner LAN with six services per week from Sydney via Auckland to Santiago, Chile. Our non stop services from Buenos Aires also offer excellent connections from South America via Australia to Asian destinations such as Tokyo and Hong Kong,” he said.

John Travolta has been a Qantas Ambassador-at-Large since 2002 and over the years has undertaken a number of activities associated with the airline including the Spirit of Friendship Tour – piloting his own Qantas Boeing 707; the launch of Qantas’ inaugural A380 flight between Australia and Los Angeles and most recently the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne.
