28 January 2010
Our doctors and medical personnel are currently working in two locations: the University of Miami Hospital (a field hospital set up near the Port-au-Prince Airport) and the Port-au-Prince General Hospital.
At the University of Miami Hospital, the medical personnel have been assisting with wound care, administration of antibiotics, etc. The medical supplies were greatly needed here.
At the General Hospital, there was a lack of basic supplies for babies and children. The Volunteer Ministers brought diapers, baby formula, children’s vitamins, food, bandages and antibiotics, and these were distributed to the children and the people who are taking care of them.
Today, five doctors went to the FORAN Orphanage (Orphanage for the Future of the Haitian Nation). They examined the children and found them to be basically healthy – they administered basic care and antibiotics.
The doctors meet with Volunteer Ministers every night, to allocate supplies to specific locations as needed, and the Volunteer Ministers get the supplies delivered.
Some of the doctors are arranging to go out into the outer areas, away from the hospitals, to care for the injured. They, and the Volunteer Ministers, expect this to begin tomorrow.
The JohnTravolta Haiti Relief Operation – N707JT
25 January 2010
Responding to the disaster that occurred on January 12, 2010 in Haiti, with a devastating earthquake, John Travolta and his wife Kelly Preston took immediate action.
They flew down 20 medical professionals, 16 of them doctors. And as per physicians’ requests, currently on the scene in Haiti, a list of emergency medical care items, surgical supplies, vaccines, antibiotics, medicines, ready-to-eat meals, other food items and water were flown to Haiti.
The following people and organizations came through in a big and very generous way to fulfill that request by donating these critically needed items:
PSS World Medical – Jacksonville, Florida
St. Vincent / St. Luke’s Hospitals – Jacksonville, Florida
MRMC Hospital – Ocala, Florida
Halifax Hospital – Daytona, Florida
Dr. Barry Kaplan – Ocala, Florida
John Travolta – Ocala, Florida
The Church of Scientology
We would also like to sincerely thank and acknowledge the doctors and medical professionals that took time out of their lives to go down to Haiti and help those in need. They are listed here:
Faud Muhammad Ell-Amin
Marie Jean Christophe
All in all these organizations and individuals donated goods totaling seven tons, which were delivered directly into the hands of medical doctors and relief workers on the ground in Haiti who immediately put them to use.
“Our family would like to send our heartfelt thanks to all of them and thank them for the lives they have helped us save.
All our love,
John and Kelly”
