In the year 3000, there are no countries, no cities. Earth is a wasteland. Man is an endangered species. A millennium ago, vicious Psychlo aliens swept down from the skies and wiped out Earth’s entire defense force in nine minutes. Now, the surviving humans are hiding out in remote mountain villages, primitive and cut off from the rest of humanity.

One of the most powerful figures on this new Earth is the Psychlo Chief of Security, Terl (John Travolta), a brilliant and monstrous alien who aspires to be transferred from Earth to one of the more glamorous planets under the control of the Psychlo Empire. Terl’s plan to enrich himself for a life of ease is challenged by one human, Jonnie Goodboy Tyler (Barry Pepper). Tyler wants to make life better for his people who are living like animals, but he is captured and made to work as a slave. Terl holds every advantage, with the massive strength of invincible Psychlo machinery and the vast Psychlo empire behind him. However, Jonnie has the courage to challenge him and seek to free his people.

Based on the national best-seller by L. Ron Hubbard, Battlefield Earth is a story about the power of one man to make a difference.
