If the United States forces are not able to stop the Japanese at Guadalcanal, then it is likely that Australia will fall, so an Army relief force for the Marine units is brought in to fight. The battle continues for an airfield, and as the new men see the horrors of war, they experience varied emotions as their daytime ideals are reduced to simply fighting to survive until the night.
