An adaptation of Elmore Leonard’s 1990 novel, this movie features John Travolta as Chili Palmer, a Miami loan shark who’s been sent to L.A. to collect on a bad debt from trash movie producer Harry Zimm (Gene Hackman).

Chili is a film buff though, and his real interest is in pitching Harry on a story idea and not breaking his legs. As Chili works to become a film producer, other mobsters, the IRS, and local thugs get involved. It is a fun ride that examines Hollywood life and has many stars doing cameos while showing that anyone can become a producer in Hollywood. Called one of the best movies of 1995, it is a hilarious comedy.
